DIY culture has played a vital role in the history of skateboarding, so much so that the sport might not exist without it. Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with a long-time friend who owns a family-operated skateboard brand. Together, we designed a Facebook ad, two board graphics, an Instagram stories teaser and of course a t-shirt. These designs celebrate the do-it-yourself aesthetic with 'zine style imagery, photocopy, worn paper textures, and cut-and-paste layouts. It was an honor to contribute to a brand that values the same creativity and authenticity that I do.
